The qualifying requirements in the state of Texas are:
(We all have a past, not all crimes disqualify you)
To obtain your medical certificate, a DOT physical must take place. Most general physicians offer DOT physicals. Verify when scheduling the appointment, as the office should have all the necessary paperwork to fill out. Once you have your medical certificate hold onto it and get in the habit of carrying it. The DPS office will need this documentation as well as the school you attend to have on file. As a truck driver, you are responsible to provide this certificate any time it is asked of you.
You will need to study the handbook to get the basic knowledge and concepts to pass your written tests for your permit. In order to get the correct permit, you will have to apply and study the concepts for the vehicle you will be driving. Not sure what to apply for, ask us!
You can only find electronic copies of the handbook, but we made it easy. JUST CLICK HERE!
Schedule an appointment to take your written tests with your local DMV. Once you ace those, you have your learner's permit!!!
Once you have your permit, you now have to get some classroom and hands-on training. Contact us and we can schedule your classes. You'll learn some basic and advanced concepts about driving and the industry as well as get behind the wheel and train in the drivers seat.
Once you have completed all of your training it is time to show the state what you can do. You will display your knowledge and skills you learned in class. This includes a pre-trip, backing, and road tests. Pass all three sections and BAM! You have your CDL and are ready to start driving.
Any one of our staff is ready and willing to clear up any questions that pertain to you and your situation.
